McDowell & Walker, Inc. provides quality products and services to the professional agriculturalist, lifestyle farmer, and homeowner. It has always been McDowell & Walker, Inc.'s focus to operate as a leader in the agricultural supply market place.

History :
McDowell & Walker, Inc. was formed in 1955 when Hugh McDowell, a Delhi dairy farmer, and Crawford Walker, a New York City accountant, partnered their efforts. The first feed mill and farm supply retail store was in Delhi. McDowell & Walker, Inc. operated numerous mills and locations throughout Chenango county in addition to the original Delhi mill and retail store. In addition to manufacturing "Milky Way Feeds", McDowell & Walker, Inc. decided to expand into the crop protection industry.

Agri-Balance Services was developed to help the dairyman grow their own forages in an agronomically and economically sound manner. Agri-Balance Services is a division of McDowell & Walker Inc. that continues to be an industry leader in nutrient management and best management practice (BMP).

In the early 70's McDowell & Walker Inc. purchased the Afton mill which has served as the primary feed manufacturing facility for the past twenty years. After the original Afton mill burned in the mid 70's, Afton was rebuilt with steel bins and elevators. In 1982 the first McDowell & Walker Inc. pellets were manufactured.

In 1982 mixing ceased at the Delhi plant, which had been the primary feed manufacturing plant. At that time C.E. Kiff Inc. was purchased. C.E. Kiff Inc. is a fuel oil delivery, plumbing and heating company which has expanded its fuel oil delivery and oil burner service territory to include Delaware county.

More recently McDowell & Walker, Inc. moved its Bainbridge Farm & Garden Retail Center to Sidney. As the area demographics change, so does McDowell & Walker Inc.'s product line. The Sidney Farm and Garden Center has products that will serve you well on the farm, in the garden, in and around the house. Homeowners and commercial landscapers rely upon McDowell & Walker, Inc. for lawn and garden equipment sales and service.

McDowell & Walker, Inc. continues to supply Broome, Cortland, Chenango, Delaware, Otsego, and Schoharie county farmers with feed, fertilizer, and other agricultural supplies. Stop by and see us at any of our three conveniently located stores in Afton, Delhi, and Sidney.
